Days of Recollection and Prayer

A Day with Therese of Lisieux—Her Letters (Part Nine)

Date Sat Oct 15 9:30am-3:30pm

Led by Fr. Chris Kulig, O. Carm.
Cost: $70 per person (inludes lunch)

What did others have to say of Therese?  This final installment looks at correspondence from family and friends which mention the Little Flower.  Of great interest are the reflections of St. Zelie Martin, her mother, who died when Therese was just 4 years old.  Her early recollections of Therese, along with those of others throughout her life, help us to understand Therese throughout the entirety of her short life.

Emotions and the Psalms

Date: Sat Oct 22 9:30am-3:30pm

Led by: Br. Neil Conlisk

Cost: $70 (includes lunch)

"The Psalms have a particular marvel of their own, that within them are represented the great variety of movements of the human soul. They are like a mirror in which we see ourselves portrayed, and by seeing ourselves, we may form our hearts according to the pattern given.” - St. Athanasius

How should we pray to God when we’ve lost hope? When we’re angry or afraid? Or when we are grateful, but do not have the words to express ourselves? In this day of reflection we will review some particular psalms, to see how emotions are expressed and responded to in relationship with God, while also examining our own emotions, learning how to process these emotions in prayer, and maybe even writing psalms ourselves.
